Biomedical Tomography Laboratory (生醫斷層影像實驗室) & Solid-State Laser Crystal and Device Laboratory (固態雷射晶體與元件實驗室) : The major research areas are on the growth of laser and nonlinear crystalline fibers, and laser technologies in order to realize compact and efficient light sources with excellent mode quality for applications in bio-medical imaging and therapy, and optical communications. The present research directions are listed below: 1. Functional 3D tomography with cellular resolution Bright and broadband light sources with Gaussian-like spectral shape are eminently suitable for optical coherence tomography (OCT) with sub-micron resolution. Various applications, such as skin cancer diagnosis and intravascular plaque evaluation are under clinical trial or animal model studies. 2. Yb doped fiber laser amplifiers for EUV generation and imaging A 4-stage Yb:fiber based master oscillator power amplifier was achieved with 100-kW peak power and 6-ns pulse width for high precision machining as well as 13.5-nm EUV generation and characterization of Si/Mo stacks. |
