Lab Title Silicon Photonics and Organic Solar cell Lab.
Location R405, EE BuildingⅡ/ R511, Barry Lam Hall
Research Direction 1. Organic and inorganic materials have different properties. However, as they are combined together, they may provide optoelectronics the advantages of both materials. Our Lab works on this combined system to explore the composite solar cells and light sources to exhibit the soft and flexible properties for various applications. 2. The mature Si technology has significantly increased the functionalities of Si IC chips. Here we promote Si-photonics to become an important trend for more applications, e.g. chemical or biological sensing. Thus Si-photonics are explored in our Lab. 3. Drones become attractive because they can be used for many areas, like photo/video, rescue, agriculture, delivery, security, etc., but its battery has limited power. Thus we develop light-weight and sufficient-power solar module for drones, so they can fly for a very long time without the limitation of battery power.
