Research Direction
  1. Fabrication and application of quantum-dot devices. We have fabricated 1.3 m InGaAs/GaAs quantum-dot lasers with modulation bandwidth of 2.8 GHz. They are among the best 1.3um quantum-dot lasers worldwide. Simulation models were built for theoretical studies.
  2. Optical microcavities and photonic crystals. We have fabricated microdisks and photonic crystal microcavities. Lasing has been achieved from quantum-dot microdisks at 77K with very high quality factor Q larger than 14000.
