Title: InP integrated nanophotonics and its 3D integration on electronics

Abstract: Photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technology powers up wide applications from communication and computing to sensing and precision metrology. In this talk, I will start with an introduction to the PIC concept, materials and principles, then discuss the recent advancement of PIC technology and particularly the latest research at TU Eindhoven. I will introduce our InP-based nanophotonics technology on a membrane and most recent building blocks developed on this platform. I will also present our 3D integration methodology based on this InP membrane to achieve a convergence of photonics and electronics into a single chip technology.

Short bio: Yuqing Jiao received B.Eng. degree with honor from Zhejiang University, China, in 2008. Afterwards he was awarded with a Philips Brainbridge Fellowship and was admitted to a joint PhD program between the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in Netherlands and the Zhejiang University. Since then, he has been focusing on the research of InP-based nanophotonics and nanoelectronics at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He is currently an Associate Professor. He is a senior member of IEEE.
