Professor Si-Chen Lee’s current research interests are in the device applications and the growth kinetics of InGaAs/GaAs strained layer quantum dot/ring, InGaAs/InAs multi-channel quantum dot/ring infraredtTHz detection. He is developing a extraordinary transmission of metal/dielectric structure, a new tri-layer Ag/SiO2/Ag plasmonioc infrared thermal emitter and a high performance plasmonioc cavity thermal emitter based on surface plasmon stimulated emission.  This high temperature operated, narrow bandwidth infrared emitter is used to study the interaction between the genes of mungbean, Arabidopsis and infrared light. In addition, he is also interested in hydrogenated amorphous,  micro-crystalline, and poly-silicon material and devices, such as thin film transistors and thin film solar cells on flexible substrate. He has developed a new type active-matrix organic light emitting diode with an amorphous solar cell inserted in-between the organic light emitting diode and the poly-Si thin film transistor.
